The "Reform Michigan Now" ballot proposal may or may not make it onto the ballot, as there are serious questions about how clearly it was understood by those who signed the petition. Most signed thinking they were "reforming the legislature", but if you want to see what is really behind this proposal, you might want to click on the link below
and take a look at a slide presentation, which until recently, was posted on the UAW web site. (It was removed once made generally available to the public--after all, you don't want voters to actually know what they are voting on).
This proposal is more about giving one party control over the Michigan Legislature and controlling the Michigan Supreme Court, and thus ensuring that redistricting cannot ever face a "judicial challenge." The slide presentation admits that there "redistricting will not be approved by voters", and that to "succeed, redistricting reform needs to be a small part of a larger, popular state government reform program."
Please take a moment to read this slide presentation. While there are many points I can agree with in this proposal, I will not vote for this as it is nothing but an attempt to make Michigan a one party state and that is not a healthy thing for our government.
I hope you enjoy these pages. As one who has followed the political scene here in the Shores for many years, I try not to rant too much and to provide readers with facts and information they can use and depend on.
